Began
as a student leader and was elected president of the Government Junior
College students union, then president of the ABR Degree College
students union at Repalle and as president of the Visakhapatnam Law
College students union. He had worked as the president of Guntur
district Youth Congress, chairperson of the District Congress legal Cell
and chairman of the NEDCAP. He was twice PCC general secretary - once
during Sri Mallikarjun’s tenure as PCC chief and then again during the
tenure of D Srinivas. He was also the chairperson of the APIIC. A close
follower of late YSR, he resigned from his position in the Congress and
joined the YSR Congress Party.
