His
political foray began through Samyuktha Socialist Party way back in
1967. In 1970, he was elected Kalvakurthi ward member. He had later
become sarpanch and an MPP, before getting elected as an MLA from
Kalvakurthi in 1984. He was jailed during the Emergency. In 1980, he
joined the Congress and became an MLA from Kalwakurthi in 200. He has
earned reputation for highlighting public issues.
