He entered politics following the call by former CM YSR. He worked for 16 years in the Defence Ministry. As a student of Jawahar Bharathi College, Kavali he worked as Joint Secretary of PDSU and also as Vice President. He entered Mala Mahanadu movement in 2005 and was elected as its President. In 2007 he was elected as MLC. After YSR Congress was established Jupudi supported Jagan. He is a member of the YSR Congress Party Central Governing Council.

YSR CONGRESS PARTY FLAG LAUNCHED
Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, announced his party's name as YSR Congress Party, he released the tricolour party flag at his father Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy's samadhi in Idupulapaya on 12-March-2011 (Saturday) afternoon.

The flag has three vertical strips of blue, white and green, in that order from the left with YSR's portrait in the centre. Symbols of nine government schemes conceived during YSR's rule are placed in a circular fashion around the portrait.The symbols depicting the schemes around YSR's portrait were for
1. Pavala Vaddi,
2. Rajiv Arogyasri,
3. Fee Reimbursement,
4. Jalayagnam,
5. Indiramma Housing,
6. Old Age Pension,
7. Rs. 2 kg Rice Scheme,
8. Free Power To Farmers and
9. House Site Pattas.

Jagan Mohan Reddy Successfully Completed His Exclusive Fees Poru Deeksha (Hunger Strike For 1 Week i.e. From 18th-Feb-2011 To 24th-Feb-2011) On Fee-Reimbursement Held at Hyderabad Indira Park Varalakshmi Deeksha Praanganam Against To The Congress Government.
