Entering
politics at the young age of 21, Nagireddy went on to become MP thrice
and MLA twice. His political foray began in 1985 when he joined the TDP
and became the president of Narsapuram Society in Rudravarammandal. He
became an MLA from Allagadda in 1991 following the death of his brother,
a sitting MLA. He was returned from Allagadda in 1994 too. In 1996, he
had unsuccessfully contested parliamentary against the then Prime
Minister PV NarasimhaRao from Nandyal. Later, when PV had vacated the
seat, Nagireddy notched up an emphatic win with a staggering 4 lakh
majority in 1997. He had won again in 1999. He resigned from the TDP and
joined the PRP and unsuccessfully contested from NandyalLokSabha
constituency. Later, he had joined the YSR CP.
