belongs to Amalapuram and has been in active politics for over 4
decades. Kudipudi Chittiabbai hails from a political family and has been
in active politics for well over four decades. His uncle Suryanarayana
Rao was the first municipal chairperson of Amalapuram. He was an MLA and
an MLC too. Kudipudi’s cousin K Prabhakar Rao was a four time MLA and a
minister. A popular leader in Konaseema region, Chittiabbai was
Amalapuram town Congress President. That when denied a party ticket, he
had contested independently and had won twice in 1999 and 2004 is a
measure of his popularity. In 2009 polls, he was instrumental in getting
Congress nominee P Viswaroop elected as an MLA. Post-YSR’s demise, he
stood by YS Jagan and is now the East Godavari district convener of the
YSRCP.
