He
was elected member of AICC in the congress meetings held at Tirupati
during the time when Kotla Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy was the CM. He also
worked as the PCC member. He contested from Nandikotkur in 1999 and
lost. His wife Charita Reddy contested from Nandikotkuru in 2004
elections and won the seat. Venkat Reddy who was born at Brahmanakodur
studied up to Intermediate and has two sons.
