Reddy was suspended from the DCC post for exhorting the Congress party
activists to take active part in YS Jagan’s Odarpu Yatra. A native of
Gotlapalem and a graduate of agricultural sciences, he had contested as
an independent and won as a municipal councilor in 1981. Later former CM
N Janardhan Reddy had brought him into the Congress fold. He had again
won as a councilor in 1989 and 2000 and had also worked as the
chairperson of the Gudur Marketing Society chairperson, besides working
twice as the chief of the DCC.
