
Active
in politics from his student days, Batti Jagapati was joint secretary,
vice-president and president of the government junior college union and
was the general secretary of the Nizamabad ITI College union. He was
jailed during the Emergency period for his political activism. Jagapati
was municipal councilor in Medak from 1981 to 1985. He was a member
of District Library. From 1983 to 2000, he had held various posts in
TDP. He was chairman of Medak Municipality thrice (1987-1982, 1995- 2000
and 2005- 2010) In the 2009, he had joined the PRP and had fought
assembly elections unsuccessfully. In 2009, he joined Congress in the
presence of YSR. He is now District convener of YSR Congress Party.
