native of Ramagundam, Raj Thakur was an active Youth Congress leader
and an ardent sports lover and became close to YSR with hard work.
After assuming charge as Chief Minister, YSR had appointed Raj Thakur as the chairperson of the SAAP (Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh).
When Congress denied ticket to contest from Ramagundam for 2009 elections, he entered the fray as an independent, but subsequently withdrew at YSR’s instance.
In the same year, he was elected President of the Kesoram Cements Contract Workers Union.
Raj Thakur stood by Y.S Jagan in the post-YSR developments and walked out the Congress when Jagan launched YSRCP.
He is now the coordinator for both Hyderabad and Rangareddy districts. His brother Ayodhya Singh is the YSRCP steering committee member for Karimnagar district.
